Best Solutions to Remote Recordings

At some point on any podcast, you will need to do a remote podcast recording. If because of someone’s busy schedule or the need to be able to effectively communicate to an increasingly mobile workforce; regardless the reason, being able to effectively record remotely is vital. While at first glance this might seem a bit cumbersome, we work hard to make this as easy as clicking a link for our customers.

After asking our guest a few questions via email, we determine the best solution for the given interview. Regardless the platform we choose to use, we make it as easy as a click of a link. Here’s a few of the solutions we use.

Zencastr. This is one of our favorite solutions because it’s platform efficiently navigates the sometimes problematic audio interface solutions. It has an incredibly easy to use GUI, and records locally, so you’ll have back-ups for your audio recordings. The downside, is if you do have to trouble shoot, it won’t be easy. We steer clear of Zencastr when someone has never used their computer for an interview or has less technical experience.

Zoom, Web-ex, and Go To Meeting. This is what we use most often because it’s what’s familiar to our guest. Most employees use this weekly, so we tend to lean toward this platform because of familiarity for our users. Plus, with a moderately stable internet connection, these sound really great too!

Phone Tap. This is the least polished sounding, but comes in clutch for busy entrepreneurs and executives on the move. This is truly as simple as it sounds. We use our software to tap the call (but not in a creepy way!), so that the interviewee can just hop on a call between meetings or events.

No matter how you want to move forward with remote recording, when you have an expert on the other end, it makes the process as easy as having a conversation after you’ve clicked a link. Let us know if you need help solving any of your podcast solutions, or improving your remote recordings.
